The paradox of being small… PDF Print E-mail

A paradox is a statement or proposition that seems self contradictory or absurd but in reality expresses the truth.  The word of God and Christianity itself is filled with ideas that seem to contradict our way of thinking, but are in fact truth.  I am constantly reminded that in order to be great in God’s Kingdom, I must be the least of all.  Jesus was both King of all and residing in human form fully submitted to His Father in heaven at the same time.  I shouldn’t be surprised by the calling on my life to do greater things, reach more people and impact the world for the Kingdom in a way that is impossible by natural standards!

Many of the characters in the bible were faced with tasks which were impossible.  Abraham, Noah, Daniel, and the Virgin Mary were all required to do things they couldn’t do!  They were under qualified to impact the world in the way they did.  In each case they were asked to do three things; listen to what God said about them, believe what He said about them, and obey God by putting aside the “facts”, and trusting in God’s promised outcome.  Their obedience cost them dearly and forced them to exercise their faith.  Faith believes what God has said about a matter and acts accordingly.  When we truly believe what God says about us, and bring what we have and lay it down for His service, it places a demand on God to multiply us and make us qualified for our calling!

In John, chapter 6 Jesus tests the disciples by asking Phillip where to buy bread to feed the large multitude that had gathered to hear Him.  Phillip started thinking of what they had in the treasury and knew that it wasn’t enough to buy bread for the thousands of people.  Andrew, brother of Simon Peter said “there’s a little boy who has five barley loaves and two fish.  But that’s a drop in the bucket for a crowd like this.”  (John 6:9 the Message Translation)  Both men looked to what made sense to them without expecting the miraculous.  Jesus immediately told them to sit the people down, gave thanks for the bread and fish, and broke it to meet the needs of the people.  When they had eaten their fill, He told the disciples to gather the leftovers, and there were twelve baskets full!

God wants us to focus on His ability and not our inability.  “I can do ALL THINGS through Christ who strengthens me!”  (Philippians 4:13. NKJV)  I am too small to accomplish God’s calling, but HE is too big for it not to happen!

I have LISTENED to what God has said about me.  I will be released as a Psalmist to the nation.  I will write songs that will go all over the world.  I BELIEVE what He said about me is true.  I am OBEYING His calling for my life.  I am not looking to my bank account or to natural circumstances for my provision.  I am trusting God to supernaturally multiply the “loaves and fishes” of my life, and the lives of those around me to meet the needs of the thousands of people who are HUNGRY for God’s presence!

What can you do to help?  You can pray!  I need your prayers to saturate this ministry!  You can give either monthly or once!   Click here to find out how!  You can invite me to minster in your area!  Momentum is a key word in my life.  Please help me gain momentum by praying, giving, encouraging, inviting and whatever else God places on your heart to do.  Let’s move forward together “transforming lives through passionate worship!”

Is It Possible, Part 2 PDF Print E-mail
When Mary heard the words of the angel saying that she would conceive and bear a son who would be the savior of the world, her first response was “how can this be?”  It seemed impossible to her that God would move outside of the parameters that seemed to rule her life.  In another blog, I discussed Mary’s response to the angel of God, which was “be it unto me according to what you have said.”  Mary was wise to agree with the messenger of God and believe that with God all things are possible!  By exercising faith (agreeing with what God said about the matter), she put herself in a position to change the world!

In March, I stepped away from a familiar, safe and comfortable place to do the impossible, “to be a psalmist to the nation.”  Those who know me personally know that I love to write songs, worship God through the medium of music, and live a lifestyle of worship.  Does this qualify me to be a “psalmist to the nation?”  I don’t think so!  Only God can qualify me.  Am I equipped to be a “psalmist to the nation?”   Maybe partially!   God equips the people He calls!  Do I have the finances to do what I’m called to do?  If you could see my checkbook, you would know the answer is NO!!  Thank God I am an ambassador of His kingdom, and because He has enough, I have enough!  I choose to agree with what He says, and to put myself in a position to change the world!

In the next paragraph or two, I would like to tell you some of the dream, and how you can partner with me to “TRANSFORM LIVES THROUGH PASSIONATE WORSHIP!”

I have joined forces with the Christian Independent Alliance and Artists in Christian Testimony International, a not for profit group which promotes sharing the Gospel through music and the arts.  I can now accept donations and provide tax receipts for contributions made!  The funds you provide go toward ministry expenses such as travel, production of music and curriculum etc.  They are held in a separate account, for David Byrd Ministries, and administered on behalf of my ministry department.

I have the opportunity to record my next project in California with a great producer and some of the very best studio musicians on the planet!  I am also working on securing two wonderful Dove Award winners to sing duets with me.  I believe God will provide enough finances to cover every expense associated with the project!  Production will be about $5,000 to $6,000 per song.  While this seems so impossible in our current economic state, just remember “with God, NOTHING is ever impossible, and no word from God shall be without power, or impossible of fulfillment."   Luke 1:37 Amplified.

Please agree with me in prayer that this mission will be accomplished, and consider whether God would have you partner with me in one of the following ways:  as a prayer warrior, as a monthly financial supporter, on through a one-time gift.  Together we can impact the world for His kingdom’s sake!

What will your legacy be? PDF Print E-mail

During the past few weeks, there have been more than a few circumstances that have made me ask the question "what now?."  One of these was the passing of a man who had been involved in ministry for years.  He died of brain cancer.  What amazed me as I listened to the many eulogies at his memorial service, was the legacy he left behind.  Every man and woman who spoke seemed to have been impacted to live as a disciple of Christ.  So now what?  Now this man of God has left many capable sons and daughters to carry on the work of the ministry.  He was fruitful.  He multiplied.  He is now reaping the reward of his labor, and we are left to observe with a sense of happiness the results of years of this man's commitment to the great commission.  His tombstone could easily encompass his life in three simple words.  "He made disciples!"

What will your legacy be?  What will the result of your time here on earth be?  Will we hear the words 'well done good and faithful servant?"  I hope so for the Kingdom's sake!

Is it possible? PDF Print E-mail

I am often overwhelmed by the destiny God has given me!  It seems impossible to accomplish.  In the natural circumstances of my life, I don't have what it takes to get the job done!  There is not enough money in my bank account, connections to the right people, I am not a household name!  How am I going to fulfill the calling of God on my life?

Mary was faced with the same questions.  The angel of the Lord appeared to her to tell her that she would give birth to the Son of God, the Saviour of the world.  She knew that it was an impossibility in the natural.  She was still a virgin!  How was she going to do this thing the angel told her she would do?

She was put to the test.  Did she believe what God said about her, or would she believe what was the truth accoring to her natural circumstances!?  Mary was so wise to listen to the messenger of God, believe his report about her and come to terms with the calling of God on her life.  In Luke 1:37 the angel of the Lord said to Mary "for with God, NOTHING is ever impossible, and no word from God shall be without power, or impossible of fulfillment."

Mary had questions, just like we all do.  The thing she, and all other great saints of the Lord have in common, is that she chose to believe what God said about the matter.  This is the definition of faith!  When we agree with what God has to say about a matter, it doesn't matter what anyone else says!  Before time began, God created a blueprint for your life.  He set a plan in motion for you to accomplish great things for His kingdom!

We first need to know who we are.  What does your blueprint say?  Now that you know, it is NOT up to you to do anything but OBEY God.  It isn't up to you to make a way for the gift God has placed within you!  It isn't up to you to make provision for yourself.  You simply must obey Him, walking according to the blueprint He laid out.  He will make a way!!!

Mary did one more important thing.  She agreed quickly with God, presenting herself to Him saying "be it unto me according to what You have said."  Know who is talking to you.  Agree quickly with the voice of God.  Submit yourself to Him.  All things are possible!  You don't have to make a way, He already has!

Blessings

That Same Connection PDF Print E-mail
Have you ever felt like you were the only one going through what you're going through? Recently, I have been going through some struggles, and started to feel kinda isolated from the rest of the world. I even felt as if my friends, family and colleagues wouldn't understand what I was going through.

Thankfulness PDF Print E-mail
Have you ever wondered like I do how we can be so ungrateful? During this time of year our thoughts turn to family, friends, good food and fellowship. We are reminded how much we have to be thankful for. The bible tells us "In everything give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." Are we really thankful? We have just gone through one of the ugliest elections, and are facing what looks to be a strong recession. The big three automakers are asking for bailouts and the banks are in a state of turmoil!

Dancing in the Rain PDF Print E-mail
I saw a quote somewhere that said "God doesn't always shelter you from the storm, sometimes you're supposed to learn to dance in the rain!" I smiled inside when I read this, knowing that the word says that "in everything" we are to "give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." It is certainly easier to dance in the sunshine when everything is going well. But what about during the times when life isn't so great?
